Adding accessories right into your wedding hair-do may sound like a difficult task, especially when a veil is involved. However, they can be great treasures to complete your ensemble, can allow you to show your personality, and can even be a replacement for jewelry if you aren’t a fan of it. Fun ideas for every kind of bride, these trinkets will make your hair a masterpiece for the ages.

Delicate DIY Additions
Buy little butterflies or flowers from any craft store, and simply super glue them to bobby pins, which you can spray paint to match your colors or the trinkets. You can make these your own, as they can be whatever you decide them to be. Craft stores have awesome felt, plastic, faux flower-esque pieces that can be incorporated into your hair as you like. And since they can be easy to make, feel free to make more than one for yourself, or make some for your bridesmaids.

Fee Fi Faux Feathers
Want to put a clip in your hair, but not make it part of holding the style together? Clips like these are the perfect solution. They tuck into hair, whether it is down or up, and provide an effortless amount of style and grace. Feathers work well on them, since they can be long and drape over the actual plastic part of the clip. Between that and it being tucked into your hair, you won’t even be able to tell that it isn’t a real butterfly or flower just resting on your head.

Wispy Winged Widgets
Sea-shell shaped clips like these flow effortlessly into any hairstyle. Flat feathers like this one are great for hair, too, if you are going for a straighter, more in-line look for your do. These types of feathers also come in a variety of colors and looks, so yours will be unique. Attach to bobby pins or clips and be ready for the big day!

Woven Wire Creations
If you don’t want to mess with clips or bobby-pins at all, just take wire and bend it into the shape or flower you would like, and just stick it in your updo. Wire will hold its own, without weighing down your wedding look. Additionally, wire blends well into almost any hair color, so if you want a little something without the accessory being overwhelming, this could be a good option for you.

Flowers Of A Feather Flock Together
Can’t decide between a feminine flower and edgy feathers? Don’t! Create your own large clip for more of a hair statement piece. When laid on your head, they look more like birdcage veils than clips, which would work great if you are not planning on wearing a veil. Statement hair accessories are awesome, because they allow for the focus to be on them, allowing you to perhaps decide that a lot of jewelry or gems are not necessary.

A Tucked Fresh Flower
If you want a hair accessory, but don’t want it to be too bold, go for a natural, real flower, straight from a bouquet or your garden. Its effortless look and feel will add whimsy to your ensemble, and it’s brilliant color (if you so choose) adds a pop to your up or down do. Best thing is, it’s free!

Vine & Flower Trail Pins
Maybe you want to incorporate flowers into your hair accessory, but don’t want to have a completely nature-fied look. Fake flowers with other aspects, like this vine, allow you to use flowers without looking like the ’70s, if you are trying to get away from that. These are great, too, if you want an accessory, but only want it to be a tiny addition to your otherwise complete and flawless look. Craft stores have great varieties of these items, and they can be cut and adjusted to meet your specific hair accessory needs.

Shooting Star, Flying Feather
Stars are gorgeous accents to weddings, especially if they sparkle. Again, so easy to put together, feathers and flowers create an epic shooting star affect. Even if stars and feathers are not part of your theme or decor, they can add just enough sparkle to make your hair shine.

Wicker & Wilderness Collide
Headbands are an awesome accessory for any bride, particularly if you are not wearing a veil. One like this one projects a love of nature, while also keeping hair in place. Spray paint a headband to fit your color and theme, add it to your done hair, and you’re good to go.

Anything can become a hair accessory if you use your imagination, so have fun with it! They don’t have to be added to pins or clips either, just stick your favorite bauble into your updo for an effortlessly beautiful look. Try any of these ideas for a more put together hair style, all able to be DIY!
