FROM THE COUPLE:

CREATIVE ASPECT

We cut costs by choosing a variety of flowers from our local farmers market. We spent a few hours arranging the bouquets, centerpieces, and flowers for the high-top tables. Our vision was to have a romantic and low-key vibe coupled with rustic elegance.  We also wanted to incorporate wine corks as much as possible, specifically with the boutonnieres and the place cards.

OUR THEME

We had all shades of purple at our wedding – from linens, to the bridesmaids’ dresses, to the centerpiece flowers. We really just wanted our guests to feel comfortable and we wanted the atmosphere to be low-key yet intimate, with a sort of rustic elegance.

FAVORITE DETAIL

It’s hard to choose just one, but the popcorn bar was a crowd pleaser. Our venue had a large deck just off of the upper floor of the barn, where we had high-top tables for conversation and a popcorn bar for an evening snack. Our flavors including cornfetti, windy city mix, southwest hot wings, and dill pickle.

ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE

Delegating is key and your friends and family really do enjoy helping in any way they can. I was lucky enough to have many volunteers who helped with small tasks and brought it all together on our special day. It will help offload some of the stress and anxiety of the day (even if you’re a perfectionist) and will allow you to relax and take it all in. I would also suggest enjoying the planning process as much as you can – don’t settle on just one caterer or DJ – have multiple meetings until you find the best option at a reasonable cost.
