From the Photographer:

I love second weddings because many times the couples really spend a lot of time making the wedding details so personal. Helen worked tirelessly on all of the little details to make sure they were all about her and Tom and what their love represented. If you love DIY ideas, this is a perfect wedding for you.

From the Bride:

Tom and I met in my kitchen on a rainy Thursday night in early August 2006. The rain abruptly ended my tennis group that night — so I had the group back to my house for some food and drink. A friend invited a friend, who invited a friend…. And so it all began. Our first official date was Saturday August 19, 2006 at a beach party in Sea Bright, NJ. From that night on we were basically inseparable. In the months and years that followed, we have shared some incredible experiences together on land, on the mountains and at sea. We’ve skied the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, mountains, in California, Montana, Oregon, the Dolomites in Italy as well as many mountains in New York and New England. We’ve basked on the beaches of St Maarten, St Bart, Ischia, Myrtle Beach, and of course the NJshore! We’ve experienced the cultures of the Caribbean, Florence, Rome, Milan and Paris and have blended our local cultures and family traditions with each other. A true test of our love and commitment to each other has been our construction projects. We have survived gutting and renovating a bathroom, demo then re-construction of a 700sq ft. deck, and of course I can’t forget our first project — the building of the Tiki Bar!

On March 1, 2016 at 9570 feet, atop Empire Peak at Deer Valley, UT– with a view that extended for miles, Tom asked if I would marry him. I was surprised, not expecting the proposal at that time…. And of course I said YES! Tom is not only my partner, but my best friend; over the years he has taught me how to love again, trust again and enjoy life! I absolutely wanted to spend the rest of my life with him!Knowing that the 10th anniversary of our first date was approaching, we agreed to marry on Friday August 19. Of course we picked the date without having a venue, photographer, or officiant – a few of the key essential items for a wedding. Luckily everything fell into place quickly. We secured an awesome beach venue for the ceremony and reception, and our first choice for photographer, DJ and officiant were all available!

Over the next few months all the planning and details came together. Some say a second wedding shouldn’t be elaborate…. But this was our wedding, our chance to show each other and our guests how much we truly love each other. We vowed our love to each other on the beach, under beautiful skies and an arbor we built together, then ate, drank and danced the night away with family and friends. Now we are building our future together.
