From the Photographer:

Weddings, more I photograph them, more I fall in love with them. Kate & Derrick’s wedding at Duran Gold Club in Viera Florida, has a special place in my heart. Such a young and beautiful couple, their love story starts couple years ago when they met at a young adults group at the local church Calvary Chapel. After 2 years He took Kate on a jet ski to look for shells in the river near Cocoa Beach and they were riding in the mangroves and he found a secluded spot and got down in the river (it was very shallow) and popped the question! Of course, She said YES! When Kate contacted me to photograph their wedding we clicked right away. It was my first wedding photographing on a golf course, I was soo excited about it. They decided to have a casual wedding, no dancing more mingling with family and friends who gave up their time and traveled so far to see them. The whole day was amazing, full with laughter, love, joy and happiness.

1.) How did you two meet? We met at a young adults group at our church, Calvary Chapel Melbourne’s Viera Campus

2.) How did he pop the question? He took me on a jet ski to look for shells in the river near Cocoa Beach and we were riding in the mangroves and he found a secluded spot and got down in the river (it was very shallow) and popped the question! Of course, I said YES!

3.) What was your favorite moment(s) from the wedding? Saying our vows. It was a day I had waited and prayed about for such a long time. I just cried my eyes out as soon as I saw Derrick as I walked down the aisle until after our vows were done.

4.) How long have you been together? We have been together for 2 years.

5.) What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding? You do not need a year to plan a wedding. We were able to plan one in 3 months and it was beautiful. Just know what you want and don’t settle! Also, don’t sweat the small stuff or feel you need to spend a fortune. A wedding can be amazing without all the craziness or going into a ton of debt. Focus more on your relationship and not the day itself.

6.) Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one? I wanted a ball-gown. The bigger the better! I saw a dress in a magazine years before I even had a boyfriend so I wanted to find one similar to that. I found exactly what I wanted at L.A. Bridal in Viera, FL. As soon as I put it on and saw myself, I started crying. Reality that this was happening hit me at once. There truly is a “moment” that everyone talks about – at least there was for me.
