diy Wedding Crafts: Chalkboard Wedding Altar -
We LUV this gorgeous chalkboard wedding altar idea! Here the couple has used this for their ceremony backdrop honoring both families, but you could also use it for your save-the-date card and then use it again as your wedding altar.

Materials Needed:

– 2 large MFD plywood
– hinges
– screws
– sand paper box
– chalkboard paint
– paint rollers and supplies
– stencils
– large ruler
– chalk artist {optional}
– chalk

*Note: you will need to decide how you are going to secure this once you stand it up. Consult with someone at your local hardware store for options.

  1. Secure wood together by adding hinges on the backside of the boards.  This will allow you to fold and transport.
  2. Sand down all the rough edges and any flaws.  Wipe down boards afterwards and let dry thoroughly.
  3. Roll on two coats of chalkboard paint.
  4. On paper, draw out what you would like your board to look like so you have a visual.
  5. Here are several options for adding your wedding info:
    • Hire a professional chalk artist
    • Find someone who knows calligraphy
    • Purchase and use stencils to trace out names and scrolls
