Subway Sign Art

Are you looking for a great, yet easy way to do some of your wedding signs? Or what about a wedding gift to for the couple with their names, wedding date and where they got married.  Here is a simple way to do it.

Materials Needed:

  • plank wood board sign {8 boards cut to project size, 6 on front 2 on back secured using staple gun}
  • white acrylic paint
  • stencils
  • paint brush
  • painters tape
  • ruler
  • pencil

Instructions:

  1. If you are going to stain your board do that first – let completely dry
  2. To keep everything straight, draw lines using a pencil and ruler across the bottom of each plank where you would like the letters to sit
  3. I recommend laying out all your words in order
  4. Starting with the first letter – equally space the first line of words out on the first board
  5. Using painters tape, tape down your stencil letters
  6. Continue with this same method on all other boards until all letters are taped and ready to be painted
  7. Now take your white acrylic paint and paint each stencil letter; you might need two coats depending on the look you are going after

*Note:  Forgo step 2 if you want your letters to be slightly off-centered like the picture above.
