Okay, so your wedding day’s approaching faster than you can say “I do”. For a lot (if not most) of women, their wedding day is the most special day of their married life. This day signifies a very special union, and it’s the beginning of a new chapter in your life, together with your husband. Having a wedding is not cheap; there’s paying for the gown, the venue and the photographers. Now, it just makes sense that you’d want to look better for the wedding, especially when your pictures are taken for the wedding album. For most women, looking better means looking sexier—and that can only be achieved through losing weight. To help brides-to-be, here are some tips on how you can lose weight for your wedding day while doing it the healthy way.

Don’t Go On A Crash Diet

Time is important, especially when your wedding day is only a few months away. Some people might advise you to go on a crash diet, and you may just follow them out of desperation. Crash diets, also called fad diets, is when you lose weight rapidly. For most cases, this means starving yourself or eating nutritionally imbalanced meals. If you ask if this is effective in losing weight, the answer is yes. But, this kind of diet comes with a number of downsides. When you starve yourself, your body slows metabolism in order to keep your organs functioning properly. The slower your metabolism is, the slower it is for your body to burn fat and lose weight. Crash diets work only for the first few weeks, as the body has not yet adapted to the way you eat. Once it adapts, you’ll not only stop losing weight, but you’ll get to gain a few pounds too. If your concern is the wedding day itself, go ahead and go on a fad diet but let me tell you that losing the gained weight after the diet may not be worth it.

What You Need To Do

If you want to lose weight in time for your wedding, follow a healthy eating pattern and workout at the same time. A healthy diet means a balance diet, where you get to eat a lot of fibers, lean protein and low- fat carbs. Also make sure that you don’t starve yourself, so eating small frequent meals throughout the day is actually advisable. Just make sure to eat enough to go by the hunger, and don’t stuff yourself. When it comes to working out, do cardio exercises and lift weight. Cardio exercises are effective for burning fats, while the weights are effective for toning the muscles (which also aids in burning fat). Examples of cardio exercise include dancing, swimming, running and jumping ropes. Since you are in a hurry to lose weight, it’s best that you hire a fitness professional to help you out. That way, you’ll know the best exercise routine to do, when to do it and how to do it.
