From the Couple:

CREATIVE ASPECT

When choosing my wedding theme I (the bride) wanted to go with something that Joey (the groom) was interested in, which is fishing.  So I chose a rustic fishing theme!  I wanted it to be elegant but yet rustic, so it was a great combination of him and I.  Joey and I worked hard at making all of our decor.  It was fun to have Joey so excited about a theme that he was so passionate about and one that even goes with our love story!  We pretty much DIY’ed the entire wedding except for renting flowers, linens and some larger decor.  But otherwise we did everything ourselves and to this day we are so happy and grateful we were able to do that.  You never realize how creative you can be if you really put your heart into it.

FAVORITE DETAIL

I think my favorite would have been the gift table.  We had so many personal touches on that table: pictures, our favors (handmade lures), fun signs, a memorial plaque, candles and flowers.  I wanted that table to show our love story and to really thank all of the amazing people in our lives to share this day with us.  We had so many sweet compliments from our guests about that table which really made me happy.

OTHER ASPECTS

Every bride wants the wedding of their dreams and sometimes with how expensive things are these days, not everything is in the budget.  I can honestly say as one who never thought she was creative, that DIY’ing your whole wedding is the way to get your dream wedding.  We saved a lot of money and were even able to do more than we thought we would.  It was hard work yes, but it’s those who helped and the nights we worked on it together that made the whole day even more special.  It was an amazing feeling to put everything together the night before and stand back and say we did this, we made all of this happen together.

MEMORABLE MOMENT

I would say seeing Joey for the first time, it was strange not being with him all day.  It was our day yet I was only with him for half of it, funny how that works out.

BRIDE’S ADVICE

As far as advice I would say to just sit back and soak it all in.  Everything happened so incredibly fast, it was nice that Joey and I did take a few moments away from the crowd.
