From the Photographer:

It was Christmas time. Gabe and Mikayla had met at church camp in ninth grade and had been friends and eventually started dating in college, but had always lived miles and hours apart. Gabe being in Minnesota and Mikayla in South Dakota. They were now both in their 3rd year of college, an hour away from each other studying hard in different areas of the medical field. But they were tired of the commute and being away from each other.

Now they were back at the same camp surrounded by the camp friends they had grown up with as they had all planned to exchange gifts. Soon it turned into something bigger when Gabe presented Mikayla with a heartfelt photo album entitled “Our Story: Gabe and Mikayla.” In a creative blend of Scripture and photos, the album walked Mikayla though their relationship from when they had first met and they many adventures they had shared together. She continued reading until she got to the last page and read “so what’s the next part of our story? That part begins with a question…” She looked up teary-eyed from the album to find Gabe down on one knee asking her to be his wife. Their wedding day continued the story as they brought me out to beautiful South Dakota where Mikayla grew up. Her parents had land and in the last year had put up an amazing pole barn that held their reception. Family and friends worked hard at accommodating the 300 guests on am amazingly hot day.

Mikayla’s father started constructing the pole barn that the reception would be in early in the spring and finished it a few days before the wedding.  Mikayla’s aunts and cousins helped assemble the table arrangements that helped flowers from a neighbors nearby garden that had been growing all summer.

Stationary was created by Gabe’s sister, and even their cake was made by one of Mikayla’s cousins. DIY splashes of signs, old books and vases, and wood coasters made this wedding as incredible as the couple!
