From the Photographer:
I am so excited to submit Ross and Nicole’s gorgeous just outside of Chicago Wedding! Nicole, an interior designer, planned this day to perfection with the most romantic DIY details in every single part of the day. Her style exudes modern rustic, with hints of love in every element. The love these two have for one another is the old fashioned kind of love. The day was all about their style and their love for one another.
Chicago natives and lovers of the City, they wanted their day to be relaxed and beautiful. Driving to Apple River, IL for their Wedding, we drove through rolling, green hills and saw wide open spaces. Nicole and Ross planned a gorgeous affair to celebrate their first day of becoming husband and wife, and the day was perfect. Guests arrived in the mid afternoon and were greeted with home-made sweet tea in mason jars and yard games to play before the ceremony. On a gorgeous piece of land where you can see for miles, horses run free and life is a little more quiet. This wonderful couple opted to see each other before getting married and met at the school house on the property for their very emotional ‘First Look’ (nod: Ross is a teacher and coach). The two shared the most emotional ‘First Look’ I have ever captured, as tears flowed down the groom-to-be’s face. He gave Nicole a leather bound journal he had written in for a year leading up to their day. His vows were written on the same beige papers where a year of his thoughts, love for his Bride, and his heart will always be.
A short while later, Niki rode in a 1930s vintage Ford down the hill to meet her waiting groom and all the guests that had traveled to be a witness at this classic affair. Nicole’s white and cream broach bouquet was hand-made by her mom. Lace that once was a part of her mother’s dress was now in her bouquet and for her to have forever. After hand written vows were promised, Nicole, Ross and parents poured dirt onto a tree that is now planted in their front yard. The crowd cheered as they were pronounced, Mr. and Mrs. Ryan!
The Reception followed immediately after and guests gathered under a beautiful white tent. Dinner was served and best friends made the most loving toasts to the Bride and Groom.
A dozen of their favorite cupcake flavors filled the sweets table and were eaten as the party was just getting started. Guests drank from Mason Jars and most guest joined in and sang with live band Karaoke. The entire day into the night was a celebration. They danced under the stars and even had a fire-pit where you could make yourself a s’more.
Special couples like these two are extremely rare. The honest and raw love they have for one another made documenting this day so incredibly sweet.
