Ingredients
Green Vanilla Cake
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cups Sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoons Green Food Coloring
Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter, 1/2 stick at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups Confections Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Green Sprinkles for Toppings, optional

Green Vanilla Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 1 9-inch round or square cake pan. Set aside until needed.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until light and creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until fully incorporated. Mix in the vanilla. With the mixer running on low speed, slowly add the flour mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk. Increase the speed to medium and beat until the batter is smooth. Add the green food coloring and beat until the batter is a dark green color. If needed, add more food coloring.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25-35 minutes. Allow the cake to cool completely.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
  1. While the cake is cooling, make the cream cheese frosting. Cream the cream cheese and butter in the bowl of stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the confectioners sugar and mix (gradually increasing in speed) until the sugar is fully incorporated, about 5 minutes. You may need to stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl a couple times. Add the vanilla and whisk until the frosting is light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. To assemble the trifles, crumble the cake with your hands. Place some cake crumbs at the bottom of each trifle dish. Add a dollop of cream cheese frosting and then more cake crumbs. Repeat one more time and then finish off the trifles with some green sprinkles and more cake crumbs. Serve and enjoy!
  4. To store these, cover each trifle dish with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
  5. These last up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
