Submission Tips

~SUBMISSION GUIDELINE TIPS~

Here are some helpful guideline tips to make your submission make the cut…and get featured!

1.  This may seem like a no-brainer, but please follow the submission guidelines. Because I receive so many great submissions, you can increase your chances of being featured by merely following the guidelines provided.  Find the full check list here.

2.  Our blog (and readers) are very visual.  Clear, well edited photography is a must. I cannot stress this point enough.  Professional photos are not required but good photos are.   Great pictures are essential to anyone who is in the wedding industry.  Make friends with a talented photographer in your area and exchange free advertising and PR on your social media sites in return for their services; or buy a good camera, photography equipment and start learning.  You’ll see an increase in your own sales once you start distributing good quality photos of your products.  To recap, good photography is KEY!

3. This will not prevent your work from being featured but original content will always get published first.  So if you have submitted to other publications, blogs, pinterest or forums we require a at least three links to those posts so we can insure we are not posting duplicate content.  Be aware we will do our own search, so letting us know before we discover it is a bonus for you!

4.  There is only one of me and hundreds of thousands of you.  I do look at every submission and try my best to send a response to each and every one.  If featured, I will contact you to let you know the details.  It may take 2 to 3 weeks to hear back regarding your submission.   Please resist the urge to email again, to get a status update.  It clogs my inbox and delays my responses to everyone.   If you have not heard anything after 4 weeks, please do send a note to make sure your submission made it through.  Technical glitches, spam boxes, and such can occasionally cause a submission to be missed.

If you are submitting for a print feature:

1.  Keep backgrounds neutral {unless you are a professional desktop artist and have print experience}. No watermarks or logos please.  Include several different angles and/or layouts.  Include a few close ups of the detail work, if possible.  The more photos, the better.

2.   We only publish original content in our print publication.  Submissions for print have to be exclusive – and not posted anywhere prior, including your own website, or after publication for a minimum of 60 days.  We will consider a submission, if only posted on your website and only after you remove it from your website and adhere to these terms.

I look forward to working with each and every one of you! Thank you ~ Kym
