From the Bride:
On July 5th, John and I met in Bodega Bay for dinner and fireworks. When I got there, he looked nervous but I didn’t think twice about it. We had a wonderful dinner and John said he knew a great spot to see the fireworks. He headed down a road towards the same vineyard we spent our second date (when he took me to a vineyard where we hopped the gate, put out a blanket, eat snacks among the vines next to the reservoir and talked until the stars were out and the moon was high. Probably around 3am). By this time, I had a feeling I knew what was going on but did not want to ruin the surprise. We drove around the reservoir to a table that had been set up with wine and desert overlooking a beautiful view of the hills and ocean. We drank wine, listened to music and watched the sunset. Then we went on a walk.
“What is that?” John asked me. It was a blow up canoe. We got in and paddled out to the center of the reservoir where he dropped his dive bag (an inner tube with a mesh top and bottom for abalone diving). “What are those?” john asked again. He paddled over to see. It was a flouting paper candle lantern. There were 10 lanterns all around the edge of the reservoir. John paddled us around to each lantern and lit it while Frank Sinatra played in the background. Then he paddled us back to the center and said “I have one more surprise for you, Andraya Megan Hall will you marry me?” He was down on one knee in this blowup canoe, heart pounding. I looked down and in one hand was a little black box with a beautiful aquamarine engagement ring peeking out in the moon light. Of course I said YES! Out of the dive bag he pulled a bottle of champagne and two glasses. We sat in the canoe in the middle of the reservoir drinking champagne, laughing and staring at the beautiful starry night. 10 Months later we were married at the beautiful Contento Vineyards in Hopland California.
