Many couples will have a wedding gift registry where they’ll ask for contributions towards specific items, shops or even towards their honeymoon. However, if you’d much prefer to surprise the bride and groom, below are some unique gift ideas. According to Canadian Florist, 41 per cent of brides think it’s acceptable to return a wedding gift for cash, so don’t let it be your gift!

Wedding gift basket
If you can’t decide on one gift, why not treat the couple to a wedding gift basket like these full of unique and thoughtful products? You can include everything from keepsakes and romantic treats to chocolates and champagne. There are many items you can personalize to add a unique touch such as champagne flutes, wall plaques and even spoof newspapers with the couple’s big day on the front page!

Personalized wedding date print
Commemorate their special date with a personalized wedding date print – a great keepsake and accessory for the home. Another alternative is to have a painting done of their wedding venue which they will no doubt treasure for years to come.

A framed wedding invitation
It’s likely they’ll want to frame their wedding invitation once the big day has passed, so why not save them the hassle? It will also feel more special coming from a friend or family member. If you know the colors or theme they have chosen, incorporate this into the frame too.

A romantic weekend away
According to Psychology Today one in ten women experience post-wedding depression. Why not give the bride (and groom) something to look forward to in the months after the wedding by planning a surprise trip away? Provide them with a voucher towards a hotel break and tell them they have to use it within three months.

Offer your services
With many brides choosing to go DIY for their wedding, why not offer your services to help them out? You could offer to make bunting or table runners as part of their wedding gift, or if you’re a little more talented, you could offer to take their photographs, record the big day or even make the bridesmaid dresses. Although they might not ask for it, brides are thankful for any extra help they can get!

A photo collage
If the bride and groom are childhood sweethearts, put together a photo collage right from when they first met right through to their pre-wedding shoot. They’ll soon be filling the home with the wedding photos so this will make for an extra special reminder of how they got there.

Personalized his and her jewelry
Jewelry makes for a great wedding gift and keepsake. There are many items you can buy including cufflinks, bracelets and watches and you can have the wedding date or their names engraved on it. Jewelry really shows you have put thought into your gift.
