Materials Needed:

  • Glue gun
  • Sisal rope
  • Stencil
  • Paint
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors

1. Uncoil your sisal rope while hot gluing the rope all the way around. Decide what size you want, cut and glue end.

2. Apply your stencil. The anchor stencil shown for this project was created using a Silhouette Cameo machine, but you could use any stencil you’d like.

3. To ensure paint doesn’t bleed under use Mod Podge. Apply a coat of Mod Podge over the stencil area onto the coaster. Let dry. Using a small brush, paint one coat of black or navy craft paint. Let dry.

4. Once it was dry, I gently peeled off the vinyl. One great thing about these coasters is that you can make them as big or as small as you want.
