Erin at DIYOntheCheap.com  submitted this great diy project for us to share with you.  Using fabric rosettes, a Styrofoam ball, yellow quilting pins, and a twine handle she has created this beautiful Pomander Bouquet.  Erin’s blog focuses on frugal decorating, crafts and creative DIY projects.

Visit her blog to see the full tutorial for the DIY Wedding Pomander Bouquet.  Thank you Erin!

Materials  Needed:

  • Styrofoam ball
  • fabric [flat quarters]
  • hot glue gun
  • scissors
  • color quilting pins
  • twine

 Instructions:

Use “fat quarters” of fabric to make your rosettes:

  1. Take “fat quarters” rip them in 1 foot long strips by 1 inch wide
  2. Fold in half - length wise, start by wraping one end of fabric around your finger, twisting, dot with glue, twist more, wrap, dot with glue, continue with these steps until you have about an inch of fabric left
  3. Apply plenty of glue to the back of the rosette to secure the flower together
  4. Make all your rosettes and let dry
  5. Insert quilting pins into the middle of each rosette into Styrofoam ball
  6. Continue to add rosettes around the entire ball
  7. To further secure rosettes, insert pins to edges, randomly around the ball
  8. Make a handle out of jute twine securing with more pins
