From the Photographer:

Our day was inspired by a rustic modern look. I loved the idea of a traditionally elegant wedding, but knew that wasn’t Steve and I. So by making decorations, we were able to give it more of a down to earth feel. We decided on our venue for the ceremony because Steve and I went to college at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY where our love truly blossomed. We both agreed that when we were to marry, the ceremony would be taking place there so that was a given. The reception was at the Ethan Allen Hotel because we fell in love with the look.

As for decorations, I became fascinated with pinterest, etsy (as many brides do) but I thought about what I can do myself to recreate decorations I liked. 90% of the chalkboard signs were made by, myself or bridesmaids in as simple as buying chalk paint, spray painting, chalk marker, stencils and then more spray paint for the outside frames :). The wedding was made with lots of trips to Michaels with my friend Kayla, Steven and my mother. I wanted the wedding to look traditionally elegant, but with lots of chalkboard signs. The place cards were inspired by Steve. Steve is a social studies teacher and I wanted to incorporate a teacher inspired look. So for the place card holders I bought mini white easels, and for the cards itself I wanted to the modern look so I ordered classic cards from I also used an easel for the welcome sign which I stenciled myself and spray painted. So the place card table would work cohesively.  For the programs, I downloaded a template on Etsy, edited it, then printed from staples. The ribbon was purchased from, and popsicle sticks were from amazon. With a lot of labor and love, we were able to make my program vision come to life. As far as the wedding party as a whole, since Steve and I have been together for so long, we have been fortunate enough to have been surrounded by so much love my friends and family, so what better way to thank them then include them in a day that meant more than anything to us. We found roles for every single one of our cousins and best friends. Steve and I met and started dating senior year of high school in 2007 so all of our special touches for the wedding were a long time in the making.
